To begin with this is not the beginning, it is the middle. By the time you started to read, and I started to write, this blog we have both begun our lives and experienced a bunch of events. We know more about where we have been than where we are about to go and life carries the biggest caveat of all which is that past performance is no guarantee of future returns. Given that “I am” and “you are” then both of still exist which implies that there should be at least a little bit of future still to endure ergo we seem to be “in the middle” of something.
Q) Why blog?
A) Because it is there. Just like Everest! Without an Everest there would be no climbers. Without blogs there would be no bloggers.
The next caveat is that I Am Not A Writer!. I scraped through O level english, I hate writing, I am not good at it. I want to be better at it and welcome comments and criticism.
Q) Socks?
A) One of the discussions at The Cottage is about whether socks should be washed in pairs or whether they should be left free to roam as free socks. A future post will be a fuller discourse on the topic of Recombinant Sock Theory.
Q) The Cottage?
A) The domestic context. It is not very cottagey except that it was once the dwelling of agricultural workers. If you are into Hermeneutics then this may assist you in your misunderstanding of my messages.
Q) Hermeneutics?
A) It’s a real word! Look it up!
Q) Misunderstanding?
A) Analysis can lead to valid and invalid conclusions. Knowing that I live in a “cottage” may lead you to think one thing or another. It may help or hinder. Usually it leads to an illusion of assistance that is completely unjustified. For example: There are no roses around the door, there are no chickens pecking in the dirt outside the kitchen door. However, the road is covered in mud, the farmer of the field next door does slop his muck spreader’s contents outside the front door.
